Journeyman Development Program
Lighting the way for a brighter future.
Utility Line workers and Substation Mechanics are powering communities by maintaining and repairing distribution/transmission lines and Substation equipment. Electrical linemen install and repair infrastructure on electrical power distribution systems, which can include working on substations, overhead power lines, or underground electrical systems.
If you enjoy traveling, working outdoors, and working with electrical equipment, then this program may be for you. Working in the electrical utility industry requires extensive travel and the ability to work in emergency restorations during times of bad weather.
In the B&B Electrical and Utility Contractors, Inc. Journeyman Development Program you will develop the knowledge and skills to install, operate, maintain, and repair outdoor residential, commercial, and industrial electrical systems, and associated power transmission lines and substations. You will study basic circuits, wiring practice, A.C. and D.C. controls, safety procedures, and learn about the power lines which carry electricity from the source to its destination. This is accomplished with the use of proven training methods by instructors with extensive experience in the utility industry. Your work will combine online courses with laboratory hours that offer practical, hands-on training. As your experience and ability increase, the work will be broadened to include more responsibility. B&B has designed and developed a Journeyman Development Program to meet the needs of teaching these fundamentals to the next generation of essential utility workers.
Safety is of the highest priority in this industry so your training will focus on recognizing hazards and working safely as much as it focuses on construction methods. It is your duty and responsibility to observe all safety regulations and protect your fellow employees and the public from hazardous conditions under your control. Most available positions in this industry are not local, so applicants need to be willing to travel.
You will be required to complete satisfactorily certain technical and nontechnical training.
Diversity is important to us.
